What is covered in the classes?
Our classes offer much more than traditional ‘puppy parties’. The first 2 weeks of classes cover general information about caring for puppies, guidance on how to communicate with your puppy with body language cues, basic behaviour training including ‘park it’, ‘stay’, ‘sit’. Safety training. We can also answer any questions you may have.
The second 2 week of classes in the links builds on the first 2 weeks of training but also includes recall training. There is the added challenge of distraction from the outdoors!
Every week also gives puppies the opportunity to socialise with other puppies of a similar age and size during the critical ‘socialisation period’.
One of the most important aspects of our Leith Vets Puppy Academy is that by the end of the block of classes, puppies just love coming to the vet!
Previous participants have also built lovely local connections in the community and canine pals for life.
Who can attend?
2 humans can attend with each puppy. This could include 2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 child.
What do you need to bring?
We require participants to bring a lead, ‘y’ shaped harness and some yummy treats. Please don’t feed your puppy a big meal just before the the class so they are hungry for treats.
What happens if it rains?
Classes still go ahead in the rain. Please wear warm waterproof clothes and shoes.
What do you receive?
All puppies and owners will receive a rosette and a certificate.
